EEOC OFO Report on the Climate of EEO in the BOP

Horizontal Divider 7

Presidents, Unionist and Activists:

I have attached a memorandum outline a hiring, promotion, staffing, training and operational budget freeze directive from the Attorney General of the United States and the Agency's (Federal Bureau of Prisons)  implementation of this directive. This is a political incentive create by a Continuous Resolution for  a Fiscal Year Budget 2011 resulting from the present political climate.

There is a strong movement in politics to reduce the deficit by the Government to what appears to me as any means necessary to include on the backs of Federal Workers.  In my view this is an issue we all most collectively engage in to ensure we are at least heard by those we vote into political office. It is the Union's creed to have solidarity in times crisis and now is the time to show that solidarity to make the change for us all!

Each one of us must pressure our elected officials into pursuing more productive options of cutting the deficit rather than on the backs of Federal Employees.

I strongly encourage anyone who believes like I do that in the Federal Bureau of Prisons cutting staffing and incentives to maintain employees will increase the inherent dangers of the Correctional Environment. Which prior to this action staff assaults and injuries where already at a high level.

Now this present actions may lead to greater staff assaults and a greater potential of a loss of live not just limited to our staff. Therefore we need to get our message out by any means possible by using our available recourses as well. We must come us with a prudent strategy to put our concerns out to the public as well as our elected official and we must sustain this effort until we are actual see some type of relief.

Please read the attached and share your opinions with the media and your elected officials.
